Dr. David Allen Background Story

David grew up an only child in a middle class American home.  Being raised in an evangelical Christian church, David was exposed to a life of faith from an early age.  He had frequent religious experiences as a youth and felt a calling into ministry.  While in high school, David began to experience supernatural Phenomenon that troubled him.  He had trouble interpreting these occurrences in the context of his Christian faith.  Were they random, supernatural events?  Evidence of spiritual gifts?  Demonic in nature?  More specifically, David had an ability to impose or suggest his thoughts onto other people.  It wasn't an ability he could always conjure up at will, in fact, sometimes it was physically draining on him when he tried.  After a few bad experiences, he became very careful to not frivolously use his power.  All these experiences and the realization of his own psionic ability put David on a quest to not only investigate the legitimacy and reality of psychic Phenomenon but how he should interpret these Phenomenon in the context of his faith.

David eventually went to a prominent Catholic university and earned his Doctor of Theology (ThD).  Upon graduation, he accepted a job at a small liberal arts college with Christian leanings - St. Xavier College.  He is early in his teaching career and is trying to fast track himself into tenure.  There is a local chapter of the NICPP (National Investigative Community of Psychic Phenomenon) which he joined, and it serves as a way to follow up on leads regarding psychic Phenomenon from letters sent to the chapter's PO Box.

David is still experiencing random supernatural / psychic Phenomenon (Weirdness Magnet), and he is juggling an increasingly difficult workload, his own workaholic tendencies, his obsession proving psychic Phenomenon and reconciling these events (as well as his own power) with his faith, and the drive to make tenure.

Thus begins the adventures of Dr. David Allen, a young professor of Theology on the brink of an existential crisis trying to interpret the reality of psychic Phenomenon with his Christian faith.
